Robins (ID 1131)

Welcome to our class page
Here you’ll find an overview of what the children will be learning each week. This will give you a little insight into the themes we are exploring, the skills being developed and the exciting experiences planned as learning unfolds across the curriculum.

Week Commencing 1 February 2026

In Year 1 we are going continuing to share 'The Tiger Who Came to
Tea' by Judith Kerr. We will be talking about how we know it is a fictional text and using out plans to write a retell of the story. Which part of the story do you like the best?

In Geography we are exploring the United Kingdom and finding out about human and physical features of Wales. Can you find out what the tallest mountain is in Wales at home?

In Science we are going to investigate different materials to see which would be

best for mopping up spills. Can you find examples of nylon, cotton and wool at
home? How are these fabrics made?

In art we have been exploring the work of the famous artist Heni Matisse. We

have used his abstract designs to create our own design for a print. We have
drawn our design onto card and glued on string to make our printing template.
Next week we will add printing ink and paint to print our designs.

This week in Kinetic letters we have been learning to form all our numerals

correctly. We know that every number starts at the top on Bounce's branch.
Some numbers are pushing numbers, and some are pulling numbers. Pushing
numbers 2,3,5,7, pulling numbers 0,6,9,8,1,4. Can you show your practise writing
your numerals correctly at home?
